May Day

Knock, knock, knock.
(Giggles)

‘Shhhhh, let’s go hide over there behind the lilac bush.’
(Giggles continued)

The anticipation of waiting for our mother to answer the door was almost too much to bear as my brother and I wiggled and giggled behind the said lilac bush.
In the warmth of the morning sunshine, the soft, sweet scent of the lilac blossoms enticed a few industrious honey bees, along with a butterfly excitedly dancing about, as if to ask,

‘Do you know what today is?’
As the front door slowly opened, our dear mother exclaimed,

‘O my goodness, what a lovely surprise! I wonder who could’ve left me this beautiful bouquet? What a thoughtful gift, indeed!’
Giggles ensued as my brother and I could no longer contain our delight.

‘It was us, Momma! Happy May Day!’

This tender childhood memory inspired this coloring page, and a wonderful day to launch this website!  I’m so excited!  (And to be honest, a bit terrified.)
